Requirements before equipment

recirculating aquaculture system design

Request a design quotation with the operating assumptions exposed. Field Route Sourcing organizes the buyer brief and comparison questions; the responsible supplier and project engineer must confirm sizing and suitability.

Two parts of the design inquiry

Define the biological load

Submit species, life stage, expected standing biomass, feed input basis and water-temperature range. Identify source-water test availability and any salinity requirement. Ask a proposed supplier to explain how those inputs connect to mechanical removal, biofilter nitrification and oxygen supply. Unstated feed loading leaves offers difficult to compare.

Define the delivered scope

List tank working volume, number of culture loops, design flow in m³/h, pipe interfaces, electrical supply and control integration. Separate factory-supplied hardware from civil works, local wiring, site installation and operator training. Require spare parts and consumables to have their own cost and replenishment basis.

Questions that expose quotation gaps

Can a budget be sent before a completed design?

Yes. State whether the amount is per system or for the whole order and name the currency. Identify non-negotiable biological and safety requirements. Compare a premium, mid-range or budget-focused proposal by scope rather than treating the buyer's preference as a verified supplier classification.

What must a system designer confirm?

Request a water-balance basis, hydraulic duty and treatment assumptions for the stated species and feed load. Dissolved oxygen (DO), degassing, solids removal and backup response need defined operating responsibilities. A public technical reference is a vocabulary aid and does not replace project calculations.

How are MOQ, samples and delivery handled?

Ask each supplier about minimum quantity for the proposed configuration. Where useful, discuss material samples or component evidence rather than assuming a complete system can be sampled. Delivery estimates need a stated start event, production scope and shipping terms; none is confirmed by submitting a form.

Replace a broad request with a reviewable brief

Incomplete request

“Quote a fish farming system” leaves species, biomass, water quality, capacity and operating staff undefined. A low equipment price may exclude oxygen backup, instrumentation or local commissioning, so competing totals measure different projects.

Comparable request

Use the same species and biomass basis, tank volume and design flow for every candidate. Attach the available site and water information, specify quantity in sets and name the US delivery location. Record accepted deviations and exclusions in writing before comparing landed cost.

Select an inquiry option or read the procurement checklist to organize the next discussion.

Share the open design decisions

Identify missing inputs explicitly so the quotation request can distinguish assumptions from confirmed requirements.
